General questions
Each gas meter has its own validity period. For the accurate measurement of gas use amount, the Measurement Act prescribes “certification validity period,” and for gas meters for household use, this period is set to 10 years.
*When the validity period has passed, contact the contracted gas dealer.
The gas may be shut off for some reason. Stop operation of all the gas apparatuses, and recover the gas meter. If the gas still cannot be used, contact the contracted gas dealer.
First, open the doors of the entrance and back entrance, windows, and others to ensure an escape route and secure your safety.
After the shaking has ended, close the gas cock and apparatuses’ cocks. Do not use gas until your safety is secured.
Most gas leakage accidents are caused by careless mistakes including “being convinced that I have ignited the gas” and “being convinced that I have closed the gas cock.”
Installation of a gas alarm prevents accidents caused by careless mistakes. To ensure your safety, it is necessary to install a gas alarm.
A gas alarm always watches you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, according to the results of various tests of gas detection sensors, their period for reliable use is set to 5 years. It is necessary to replace a gas alarm that has been used for more than 5 years because it could malfunction and fail to correctly sound an alarm. Contact the gas dealer for replacement.
Gas may be leaking. Do the following:
1. Close the gas cock and device cock.
2. Open the doors and windows to ventilate the room. *When making the above actions, do not operate electric switches including fans and lighting.
3. When the gas is gone, the alarm will stop.
4. Contact the gas dealer. Do not use the gas until an inspection has been completed.
Carbon monoxide may be generated. Do the following:
1. Close the gas cock and device cock.
2. Open the doors to fully ventilate the room. *After ventilating the room, leave the room while the CO alarm is being sounded. Otherwise, you may be poisoned by carbon monoxide if the CO concentration is high.
3. Contact the gas dealer. Do not use the gas until an inspection has been completed.
