YAZAKI is structured to eliminate waste |
 |
All good proverbs and ideas have simplicity working
in their favor. There is wisdom in simplicity, and at Yazaki, we want to reflect
this simple truth in our corporate organization. In order to understand Yazaki's
unique organizational structure, we would like you to think of the name "Yazaki"
not as a proper noun referring to a single company, but as a generic term for
97 group companies. (In fact, almost all Yazaki products are created jointly by
two or more group companies.) We call the 97 companies in our group "Yazaki,"
but each one of them is closely connected to all the others so that all 97 form
a single, organic whole. Each of the 97 companies has its own mission. For manufacturing
companies, it is manufacturing; for sales companies, sales. Every company is responsible
for its area of specialty. Tasks, like group-wide operations, management and personnel
control are handled by Yazaki Corporation. |
Yazaki has two main product groupings: the Automotive
Sector and the Energy Environment Sector. |
 |
Generally speaking, there are two main categories of Yazaki products. One is automotive
components. Yazaki is especially proud to be the world's largest producer of wire
harnesses. The other is environmental systems, with emphasis on energy-related
equipment. Given this product background, in September 1985 Yazaki created the
"Automotive Sector" and "Energy Environment Sector," with
Yazaki Corporation as the hub of this dual-sector organization. This move naturally
simplified Yazaki Corporation, and also streamlined the entire group while dramatically
increasing the efficiency of every operation.
|
The Yazaki Group is global |
 |
Of the 97 Yazaki Group companies, 91 are located outside Japan. Yazaki has moved
beyond regionalism to become a multinational, multicultural entity. Group-wide,
Yazaki now has some 470 local Japanese staff members posted overseas. In anticipation
of even further globalization, more people from Yazaki Corporation are likely
to be assigned to overseas positions, according to their experience and ability.
